The law firm of Griffith, Strickler, Lerman, Solymos &
Calkins was founded on July 1, 1990. The firm, however, was an outgrowth of
the law firm of Kagen, Griffith, Strickler, Lerman & Solymos, which had
practiced law in York, Pennsylvania, under that name from December of 1980,
until July 1, 1990. Of the current partners, three of them, Messrs.
Strickler, Lerman and Solymos, have practiced law together since 1969.
GLL&S Community Involvement
The law firm of Griffith, Lerman, Lutz, & Scheib and all of its partners, associates and staff are actively involved in the York community. For the past 24 years, the firm has organized and been the primary sponsor of the Holiday Basketball Classic, which is held each year after Christmas and before the New Year, involving local high school basketball teams, as well as high school basketball teams from out of the area. The proceeds from this event are contributed to the York County Special Olympics.
In addition to the foregoing, the firm is also active in the annual York County Special Olympics Celebrity Golf Tournament, which is held in June of each year. Members of the firm on the committee organize this event, and the firm sponsors a foursome to play in the event. The firm has also, over the past four years, sponsored an art contest for the York County Special Olympians to design a Christmas card which the firm utilizes to send to its clients and friends. A contribution is made by the firm to the York County Special Olympics in exchange for the artwork which is drawn by the Special Olympians, and each year two Olympians’ artwork is selected, one for the front of the firm’s Christmas card and one for the rear of the firm’s Christmas card.
Members of the firm also have been actively involved over the years as Cubmaster for Cub Scouts, Adult Leaders in the Boy Scouts and on the Board of Directors of non-profit community organizations, such as the York Adams Mental Health/Mental Retardation and Drug & Alcohol Advisory Board, Visiting Nurse Association of York and York County, the York Symphony Orchestra, the Strand Capitol Center for Performing Arts, Atkins House, York Little League, the Salvation Army, the YMCA of York and York County, the Cultural Alliance of York which supports the arts in York County, as well as numerous other non-profit corporations’ boards of directors.
The firm also provides probono services to patients of a local hospice provider who qualify by drafting important end of life estate planning documents free of charge.
